An original Canadian setting of the WWI poem written in May 1915 by Lieutenant-Colonel John McCrae the day after McCrae's friend, Lieutenant Alexis Helmer, was killed by a German artillery shell. Composed in 2009, this setting was revised in 2025 to include a more substantial piano accompaniment. The trumpet soars above the lyrics, which are set in a simple style to keep the focus on the cherished poetry.
