Inspired by poetry, Ralph Vaughan Williams’ The Lark Ascending is a velvety portrait of English countryside and melodies of bygone days. Piano prodigy Leonid Nediak takes centre stage with the colourful and jazz-flavoured Piano Concerto No. 4 by Rachmaninoff. Written in tandem to Diaghilev’s Biblical ballet The Prodigal Son, Prokofiev’s Symphony No. 4 evokes the scriptural tones of sin and redemption.
